RIM developing "Apple Killer" touchscreen BlackBerry?

The times has a verbose 2,000 word piece about the high stakes world of high-end cellphone manufacturers (no way!), specifically centered around RIM's post-iPhone trials and tribulations. Besides a bit of vague lip service paid to the 9000 series, they're claiming that two 3rd party developers -- no sources cited -- leaked that RIM has a skunkworks product dubbed "AK" (which stands for "Apple Killer"), and that apparently it'll be touchscreen. And then comes the tub-thumping money shot from co-CEO Mike Lazaridis: "I couldn't type on [the iPhone] and I still can't type on it, and a lot of my friends can't type on it. It's hard to type on a piece of glass." Right, until you guys decide to do one of your own -- these executive types are so transparent they might as well just be up front.

Hello Kitty-Powered Epson Endeavor NJ2100 Laptop

Epson unveils the new Endeavor NJ2100 laptop. It is powered by a 1.86Ghz Intel Celeron 540 processor, a 1GB of main memory, and an 80GB of hard drive. The notebook PC also comes with a cute and colorful Hello Kitty design (there are two designs you can choose).

Philips M600

Looking more like an MP3 player than a phone, the Philips M600 (not to be confused with the ETEN M600 or the Sony Ericsson M600), the Philips M600 really shines with its music playback equipped with SRS Wow technology for “bigger” sound. It basically helps create a 3D audio environment by only using two speakers (stereo).

Here’s a rundown of the specs:

1.3MP camera
Bluetooth with A2DP support
microSD expansion
SRS Wow speakers with audio player supporting Midi (WTF!), WMA, MP3, AMR
Xenium 9@9 battery technology (over 40 hours of playback with a single charge)
3.5mm audio connector jack

So all in all, it really looks more like a kick-ass music player. The fact that it only supports up to GPRS will make you feel a bit wanting for more when it comes to data downloads. This isn’t a “world phone” by all means - it is going to be sold in China. I suspect upgraded versions to follow if this becomes a hit (and why shouldn’t it be — Philips is hot in China).

Samsung Armani Cellphone SGH-P520

Samsung Bang and Olufsen, the LG Prada and the Levis’ phone couture graced our desks.

At first glance, this is a looker a phone. Credit-card-sized exuding and chic in its chocolate-colored metallic paint. If we are in possession of an Armani suit you imagine that this would be quite in the bag, but it is as well to our M & S is the best.

The touch screen is what this phone. The design can be as slim as David Ginola’s coiffure, but the screen is so react, such as pressure and poking your grandfather Post-dinner and a little sherry on Christmas Day. Although Samsung has a haptic feedback user interface on the fan, the cheap thrill of a vibrating phone does not make up for the pain that is trying to send a message, surf the Internet or even to make a call. With the mini-2, 6 “as a tiny screen real estate to play their fingers to get past the dots menu lets you feel that Imagine, you won the Track and Field 100m sprint.

If you have the patience a blind patch-work quilt maker, and manage to trudge through the menu of the camera on this blower is over par. The packaging of the 3MP camera and an LED flash to boot, it is not as impressive as some of the snappers Samsung has recently churning, but there is another fashion mobile cameras on the market. Save your pictures on the 60MB memory of the user or blow in a 2-GB Micro SD card for a few bonus grey matter. ”

The music player is not bad. Sync with Windows Media Player 11 on your PC and use the included Samsung PC Studio to organize your tracks: drag-and-drop on the memory card of your phone, and you have your tunes. The tone is not sonic gold, but it is quite good, even with the in-box-ear phones. If you want to insert in your own cans you need an adapter. Giorgio clearly does not like, if you mess with his style.

Under the beautiful styling and the chassis designer Armani fan is a fairly average handset. Missing 3G and with a touch-screen irritating, it is more boring than primary Armani.
